More than 10 members of the Women Feeding Cities (WFC) project attended the Mid-term Forum of NFRF-2022 on September 12-13, 2024. Dr. Sujata Ramachandran presented, on behalf of the project, the project objectives, introduced the team members and highlighted the important outcomes of the project, including graduate students mentorship and training and policy audit reports published for study sites.
The WFC project, funded by NFRF, examines the food security impacts of COVID-19 on micro-enterprises owned by women in the informal urban food sector, their households and communities in eight cities: Maputo and Xai-Xai in Mozambique, Windhoek and Oshakati in Namibia, Kingston and Montego Bay in Jamaica and Mexico City and Tapachula in Mexico. Through multiple research methods and community engagement activities, the project aims to provide gender-responsive, comparative, and locally relevant evidence base to support sustainable post-COVID recovery of the informal food sector.
The forum (see the program here) provided an opportunity for communications across research projects funded by NFRF, particularly regarding challenges of international collaborations across diverse stakeholders.
