On June 8, 2026, MiFOOD’s partner in India, the International Institute for Migration and Development (IIMAD), hosted an inception workshop for three MiFOOD research projects at its City Office in Kumarapuram, Kerala.
The workshop welcomed Dr. Ginu Zacharia Oommen, Chairperson of the Kerala State Food Commission, who interacted with the research teams and shared valuable insights on migration, livelihoods and food security.
The workshop provided an important opportunity for the research teams to discuss the objectives, scope and direction of the three MiFOOD projects. Dr. Ginu’s engagement helped strengthen the projects’ focus on key issues affecting migrant communities, including access to food, livelihood security, social protection and the broader policy environment shaping food security outcomes. Through these projects, MiFOOD continues to advance research on the complex relationships between migration, food systems, livelihoods and community resilience.
